Sadiya college is the only institution of higher education in the Sadiya Sub-Division under Tinsukiya district of Assam. It was established in 1982 with the joint efforts of local public. Education in Arts stream was imparted in the initial stage of the institution from class XI. The process of class upgradation has been going on up to degree level with the promotion of students. It was brought under ‘deficit-grant-in-aid’ by the government of Assam in 1989 and also provincialized in 2005. A large plot of land covering above 40 bigha is under the possession of the college and it is adjacent to the National Highway, connecting Arunachal Pradesh about 4 k .m away on the north. It has been conducting the courses under 3 streams i.e. Arts, Science and Commerce with Honours. The institution comprises 800 degree students and 900 higher secondary students, culminating in an aggregate student body of 1700 individuals .There are 3 teachers appointed in each department. The total number of departments are 12.There are 10 non-teaching staffs excluding the principal. The academic system of the college is supported by a rich central library.It has also provided the I.C.T or digital facilities to its students and employees to meet their day today needs.Class rooms are accommodated in several permanent buildings including hostels both for boys and girls.The authority of the institution always recognizes the achievements of Students and teachers deserved in various fields of activities.It has also completed the process of 2nd cycle accreditation under NAAC recently. Maintenance of quality education is the paramount goal of the institution to make the outgoing Student Self Relient. The college has been running smoothly under the able guidance of Governing Body along with the highly qualified principal. No doubt development may be observed in every aspect only for the mutual co-operation existed among the stakeholders of the institution. I therefore always proud of the institution for its glorious history.
